Los currículos actuales nos aconsejan introducir los conocimientos matemáticos a partir de situaciones reales donde intervengan con sentido los objetos matemáticos a estudiar.
Una fuente importante de casos reales la proporciona la historia, donde podemos encontrar las situaciones que dieron origen al descubrimiento de los objetos matemáticos e identificar algunas dificultades en su desarrollo que podrían reproducirse en los estudiantes. En este trabajo se analizan brevemente algunos hechos que dieron lugar a la creación de las nociones de correlación y regresión y se hace una reflexión general sobre los posibles usos de la historia de la matemática en la enseñanza.

Current curricula suggest introduce the mathematical concepts through real situations where these concepts are used in a meaningful way. The history of mathematics provides an important source of real examples, since we can find the situations that originate the discovering of mathematical objects and identify some difficulties in their development that may be reproduced in the students� learning. In this paper we summarize some facts that lead to the creation of correlation and regression and reflect on the possible uses of the history of mathematics in the classroom.
