The appearance of news related to Social Network Sites on the Internet is quite common, making us conscious of the amplitude and frequency of their use, to the extent of being a daily practice amongst many users. In a relatively short space of time the use of these networks has extended in a vertiginous way among Internet users, at national level, following the international tendencies.
Hundreds of Social Network Sites exist, with different technological possibilities that give support to an ample range of interests and practices. They respond in some cases to a variable public, whereas in others they attract people on the basis of a common language or race, sex, religion or identities based on nationality. They also vary insofar as new tools of information and communication are introduced. A common characteristic in most of these Social Network Sites is that an initial number of participants send messages to members of their own social network inviting them to join the site. The new participants repeat the process, and the total number of members and the connections of the network increase.
