    El objetivo del presente estudio es evaluar en qué medida fueron o no utilizados los medios de comunicación y el deporte como una herramienta política durante los Juegos Olímpicos de Helsinki 1952.

    Para esto, nos hemos basado en el análisis de dos medios de comunicación escritos:

    uno estrictamente deportivo, el diario El Mundo Deportivo, y otro de información general, el diario ABC.

    Asimismo, hemos completado este análisis con el estudio de los canales oficiales de información por parte del Estado (Boletín Oficial del Estado) y también de la Delegación Nacional de Deportes (D.N.D.) (Boletín Oficial de la D.N.D.).

    Finalmente hemos contrastado esta información con fuentes oficiales internacionales, analizando el informe oficial de los Juegos.

    Los resultados muestran que efectivamente, existió una intervención de la información publicada en los medios de comunicación.

    Sin embargo, el hecho más significativo es la utilización de los Juegos como una herramienta política no tanto por el control deportivo sino por el uso del deporte para entablar relaciones internacionales.

    The purpose of the present study is to evaluate in which measure Sport and Media were used as a political tool through the Helsinki 1952 Olympic Games.

    We based our analysis on two newspapers:

    one strictly devoted to sports, the diary El Mundo Deportivo, and the other one of general information, the diary ABC.

    Analysis has been completed with the study of the State official channel of information (Boletín Oficial del Estado) and that of the Delegación Nacional de Deportes (D.N.D.) (Boletín Oficial de la D.N.D.).

    Finally, we have contrasted this information with the international official sources, analyzing the official report of the Games.

    Results showed that in fact, there was an active intervention on published information in the Press.

    However, more significant is the fact that the Games were used as a political tool not only for sports control, but for the use of Sport in order to engage international relations.
