Con el fin de caracterizar la variedad y variación del español en Navarra, se analizan diez rasgos �de fonética, léxico, morfología y sintaxis� registrados en nueve mapas del ALEANR, que ofrecen datos de carácter diatópico y socioestilístico. La Navarra media y meridional, de romance patrimonial, ha adoptado diacrónicamente nuevas normas como elementos de nivelación, lo que permite denominar a su modalidad actual español regional de Navarra. La Navarra septentrional, vascohablante, define su posición lingüística en cuanto al romance importado según dos supuestos relacionados: la sustitución lingüística (o no) del euskera por el romance; y la cronología y tipos de castellanización (a partir del español estándar, o bien a partir del español regional de Navarra).

With a view to characterising the variety and variation of Spanish in Navarre, ten traits are analysed �related to phonetics, lexis, morphology and syntax� that are registered on nine maps of the ALEANR, which offer diatopic and socio-stylistic type data. The mid and southern Navarre, with its autochthonous Navarre Romance language, has diachronically adopted new rules as levelling elements, which permits naming its current modality, regional Spanish of Navarre. The Northern, Basque-speaking, Navarre, defines its linguistic position, with regards to imported Romance language, according to two related cases:
the linguistic replacement (or not) of Euskera with Romance; and the chronology and types of Castilianisation (based on standard Spanish, or based on the regional Spanish of Navarre).
