In the Cehegin area (prov. of Murcia), in the External Subbetic of the Betic Ranges, the top of the ¡-4b genetic unit (sensu Rey, 1993) have been studied. This unit is bounded at its base and top by the intraUpper-Bajocian and intra-Upper-Bathonian sedimentary breaks, respectively. Field data (paleofaults, lateral wedging, neptunian dykes...) point to significant tectonic influence. Therefore, the tectonic factor could have been more important than the eustatic changes
