El «Epitalamio» de la primera Soledad (vv. 767-844) de Góngora es una obra innovadora. Por primera vez en la literatura española, se hallan casi todos los topoi del género establecido por los maestros de retórica y los poetas latinos e italianos. Además, Góngora crea una fusión del epitalamio y la aldea, cubriendo el vacío que existía entre el epitalamio cortesano y los cantos nupciales recogidos del mundo real.

The «Epithalamium» of Góngora�s first Solitude (ls. 767-844) is an innovative piece. We can find for the first time in Spanish literature, all the genre topoi established by rhetoricians and by Latin and Italian poets. Moreover, Góngora creates a perfect combination between the village and the epithalamium genre, filling the existing gap between the court poems and the wedding songs extracted from the real world.
