    La irrigación de los campos en el mundo rural andalusí es muy importante. Crea una agricultura, en realidad un "agroecosistema", de alta productividad. Pero convive con otro agroecosistema anterior, surgido del ecosistema mediterráneo, en donde se insertan los dos. El peso del agua en la agricultura de al-Andalus no debe considerarse de forma absoluta, ya que hay otras líneas económicas propias del agroecosistema mediterráneo y del ecosistema propio. Las relaciones entre todas esas estructuras es fundamental.

    The irrigation of fields in the rural andalusi world is very important. It creates an agriculture, in reality an "agroecosystem", of high productivity. But it coexists with another previous agroecosystem, arising from the Mediterranean ecosystem, wherein both are inserted. The weight of water in the agriculture of the al-Andalus must not be regarded absolutely since there are other economical lines characteristic of the Mediterranean agroecosystem and of the ecosystem itself. The relations between all these structures are fundamental.
