    En este texto se explica el realismo científico como la tesis de que las teorías científicas corresponden con la realidad, más allá de la utilidad que tengan en términos instrumentales o predictivos; se encontraría aquí el falsacionismo popperiano porque es precisamente en su confrontación con la realidad que las teorías se ven falseadas. Para el realismo, la educación y la pedagogía han de tener un núcleo central de materia que familiariza al estudiante con la estructura básica, física y cultural del mundo en el que vive, teniendo en cuenta que el universo existe independientemente de nosotros y está gobernado por leyes sobre las que tenemos poco control. Se distingue, en pedagogía, entre el realismo clásico, el realismo religioso y el realismo científico.

    Scientific realism is explained in this text as the position that scientific theories correspond to reality, beyond the usefulness they may have in instrumental or predictive terms. Popper�s theory of science would be realist in that confrontation with reality is the way in which falsification works. For realism, education and pedagogy should have a central core in familiarizing the student with the basic physical and cultural structure of the world in which he or she lives, bearing in mind that the universe exists independently from us and is ruled by laws over which we have little control. Classical, religious and scientific realism are distinguished in the field of pedagogy.
