Resumen de El Macizo de Pradorramisquedo: petrografía, geoquímica y aplicaciones industriales

Manuel Lombardero Barceló, Félix Bellido Mulas, Alejandro Díez Montes

  • The Pradorramisquedo massif (NW Iberian Variscan Belt) is a granitic pluton emplaced into migmatized augen gneisses and banded gneisses that of"Olio de Sapo Croup". Its intrusion is subsequent to the two main deformative phases and to the low pressure metamorphic peak and relatedmigmatization of the Variscn Orogeny in the area. The petrological, mineralogical and chemical composition of this pluton is fairly homogeneous, and the more common rock type is a coarse to medium grained two mica peraluminous granite, poor In biotite and muscovite. The industrial use of this granite has been as dimension stone C'Blanco Galicia" and “Blanco Viana" comercial names). There are two quarries near the southern border of the massif and its explotation is strongly influenced by aplite and pegmatite veining. Also, its high-alkaly contents (7-8%) suggets that its upper weathered regolith (sand layer) could be a potential source for feldespatic sand
