  • The Pliocene sequence of the Cadiz coast between Chiclana and Coni/ is described. Three sedimentary units, separated by unconformities, can be distinguished. The two Iower units are Lower Pliocene in age, according to micropa/eontologica/ data and regional correlations. The third unit, characterized by bioc/astic and terrigenous sediments with abundant rhodoliths, is considered to be Upper Pliocene in age. These three units can a/so be recognized in the Bahia de Cadiz, which implies a change in stratigraphy up to now proposed for the area
