  • Four depositional sequences have been recognized in the Upper Cretaceous of the western Axial Zone (Pyrenees). The Iower two ones are made up of shelf carbonates, whereas the upper ones represent terrigenous shelf and basin environments. These sequences can be correlated to the previously defined sequences in other areas of the south-central Pyrenees
