Mulheres (in)visíveis: um estudo da representação social sobre a cidadania feminina.

    O presente trabalho teve como objetivo investigar as representações sociais de cidadania feminina com 114 mulheres, entre 17 e 33 anos, estudantes do terceiro ano do Ensino Médio, na cidade de Caruaru/Pernambuco. A partir do entendimento de que ser cidadã é ser protagonista, foi colocada a seguinte questão: É possível que as representações sociais das mulheres sobre a cidadania, no espaço escolar, apresentem concepções de submissão e dependência? O trabalho de investigação ocorreu através da aplicação de um questionário, que continha uma questão de associação livre � cuja expressão indutora foi �Ser cidadã� � e questões sobre o perfil socioeconômico e cidadania. A análise dos dados da associação livre, realizada com o apoio do software EVOC, mostra que as mulheres parecem compartilhar uma noção de cidadania que se aproxima da idéia de cidadania ativa, ressaltando participação, liberdade, informação (educação) e pluralismo (respeito, dignidade e solidariedade).

    Ao justificar, entretanto, a escolha das palavras associadas, elas ressaltam que essas categorias não são ainda efetivas na vida cotidiana. Os resultados da pesquisa mostram como as questões de gênero ainda são reproduzidas nas representações sociais dessas mulheres, que apresentam ainda concepções de submissão e dependência.

    The objective of this work is to investigate the performance of Social Institutions addressing Women�s Rights and Citizenship. 114 women between the ages of 17 and 33 were considered. All were third year Middle School students in the City of Caruaru, Pernambuco, in Northern Brazil. From the understanding that to be a Citizen is to be a Protagonist, the following question was posed: Is it possible that Social Institutions dealing with Women�s Rights and Citizenship in the School Environment continue to present concepts of submission and dependence? Free association was employed in a questionnaire � whose introductory question was �To be a Citizen�, along with inquiries to determine Social / Economic profile, and Citizen Participation. Analysis was performed using EVOC software, showing that the women seemed to share a common concept of what active citizenship signifies, resulting in participation, liberty, information (education), and pluralism, (respect, dignity, and solidarity). The responses and words produced in the free association sessions demonstrate that these concepts are still not considered realities in the daily lives of the women sampled. Research results show that gender concerns are still being reproduced in the Social Intuitions dealing these women, continuing traditions of submission and dependence.
