  Este artigo tem o objetivo de analisar alguns pressupostos do atual debate entre os que afirmam ser o serviço social uma forma do trabalho, e o professor Sérgio Lessa, que nega a essa profissão a condição de ser trabalho. Por isso, analisamos o núcleo argumentativo da posição defendida por esse autor no referido debate.

  This work analyses some assumptions of the present debate between scholars who assert that the Social Service is a form of work, on the one side, and Professor Sergio Lessa, on the other, who denies to this profession the condition of being a form of work. To this end, we analyse the core of Lessa�s reasoning.
