    This text discusses the concept of social exclusion, centering the analysis in the Latin American social reality. The social exclusion phenomenon is treated from authors who analyze its genesis linked to the logic of the capitalist society. The social transformation occurred with the internalization of the economy, the State role redefinition, the ongoing alterations in the work world are decisive factors for the social exclusion processes.

    O texto discute o conceito de exclusão social, centrando a análise na realidade social latino americana. O fenômeno da exclusão social é abordado a partir de autores que analisam sua gênese ligada a lógica da sociedade capitalista. As transformações sociais ocorridas com a internacionalização da economia, a redefinição do papel do Estado, as alterações em curso no mundo do trabalho, são fatores determinantes para os processos de exclusão social.
