    Carecemos hoy de una historia de las ideas éticas en España. En el umbral de esta historia del pensamiento ético-político figurarían «Las Partidas». Al rey sabio le cabe con pleno derecho el título de Aristoteles hispanus, pues representa el eslabón intermedio entre el Aristoteles Arabus y el Aristoteles latinus en los dominios de la ética individual y de la ética social o política de tendencia secularizadora. La autoridad del rey «que fizo las Partidas» fue decisiva para la recepción de estas' ideas a lo largo de toda la Baja Edad Media, alcanzando su apogeo con los humanistas de la Corte de Juan 11, sobre todo don Alfonso de Cartagena y el Dr. Pero Díaz de Toledo.

    Up to now there has been no history of ethical ideas in Spain. .Las Partidas» would have a place on the threshold of this history of ethical and political thought. The Wise King Alfonso fully deserves the title of Aristoteles Hispanus since he is misway between the Aristoteles Arabus and the Aristoteles Latinus in the realm of individual ethics and social or political ethics which tended towards laicism. The authority of the King «who mude Las Partidas» assured the acceptance of these ideas in the Lower Middle Ages, which reached their apogee in the humanits of the Court of Juan 11. especially Alfonso of Cartagena and Dr. Pero Díaz de Toledo.
