  Esta investigación pretende rastrear al interior de la legislación y los reglamentos de Protocolo, los orígenes de la costumbre de llevar el bastón de mando, en las ceremonias de posesión presidencial y su posterior desaparición. Para ello, se busca describir la representación entregada a la figura presidencial, desde el Estado, hacia a la opinión pública, durante el siglo XIX y hasta mediados del siglo XX. Señalando parte de la evolución de la imagen proyectada por el Presidente, como representante del poder político nacional.

  This article seeks to rake to the interior of the legislation and the regulations of Protocol, the origins of the habit of taking the control cane, in the ceremonies of presidential possession and its later disappearance. For it, it is looked for to describe the representation surrendered to the presidential figure, from the State, toward to the public opinion, during the XIX century and until half-filled of the XX century. Indicating part of the evolution of the image projected by the President, as representative of the political national power.
