    Un país con una fecundidad muy inferior a la necesaria para el relevo generacional está abocado a menguar en población y crecer en decrepitud, salvo afl ujos continuos e intensos de inmigrantes foráneos. Tal es el caso de España y muchas otras naciones. Este artículo aborda el estado de la cuestión, sus implicaciones y lo que cabría hacer ante la espiral demográfi ca depresiva. Además incluye un apéndice sobre cómo afecta este asunto a la industria farmacéutica.

    A country with a fertility rate well below that needed for generational change is bound to decline in population and growth in decrepitude, unless there are continuous and intense inflows of foreign immigrants. Such is the case of Spain and many other nations. This article discusses the state of aff airs, its implications and what could be done in the face of the depressive spiral population. In addition, it includes an appendix on how this issue affects the pharmaceutical industry.
