  • This work aims at studying the comic effect in jokes and tries to explain the cognitive operations which involve this kind of discourse, taking the sociocognitive hypothesis (Salomão, 1997, 1999) and the blending theory (Fauconnier; Turner, 2002) as frameworks, to examine some jokes collected unsystematically in websites and newspapers.
