Resumen de Los procesos semánticos en la noticia: Análisis crítico del discurso de CNN Internacional

Esta investigación tuvo como finalidad describir, desde la perspectiva del análisis crítico del discurso (ACD), los Procesos semánticos mediante los cuales se construyó la noticia de la visita del Papa a Cuba en 1998. La misión del ACD es desentrañar las ideologías que se cifran en el discurso. El corpus (8.722 palabras) se recolectó entre el 15 de enero y el 2 de marzo de 1998. El análisis se centró en la transitividad, concebida en términos funcionales sistémicos, de los textos con particular atención en los Procesos semánticos que caracterizaron la noticia. Los resultados muestran que los Procesos Materiales fueron los predilectos (443), seguidos de los Relacionantes (243) y de los Verbales (141) y Mentales (134). Lo anterior sugiere que CNN Internacional impregnó las noticias de acciones, descripciones y opiniones asociadas por sus reporteros a diversos individuos, como el Papa o Fidel Castro, y a grupos o gobiernos involucrados en el evento como los Estados Unidos.

The goal of this research was to describe the semantic Processes present in the news broadcast by CNN International in relation to the Papal visit to Cuba in 1998. The study was approached from the perspective of critical discourse analysis, aimed at revealing the ideologies coded in discourse. The corpus (8,722 words) was collected between January 15 and March 2, 1998. The theoretical bases of the study belong in the realm of systemic functional linguistics. The analysis focused on the semantic Processes present in the news. The results seem to indicate that the Processes preferred in the news were the Material (443), followed by the Relational (243) and the verbal (141) and Mental (141). These results suggest that CNN filled the news with descriptions and opinions stated by its reporters and related to individuals like the Pope and Fidel Castro, and groups or governments like the United States.
