    En este trabajo se describe el inicio de los contactos entre China y Europa desde dos experiencias distintas: el método de evangelización realizado por la Compañía de Jesús en aquel país y su acercamiento a la tradición confuciana, así como la reacción que otros miembros de la Iglesia Católica tuvieron ante tal método de evangelización. Dichos eventos marcarán definitivamente el transcurso posterior de las relaciones sino-europeas.

    This paper will describe the beginnings of the contact between China and Europe through two different experiences: the evangelization method realized by the Society of Jesus in that country and its approach to the Confucian tradition as well as the reaction that other members of the Catholic Church had towards such evangelization method. These events will definitively mark the later course of the Sino-European relations.
