INDICACIONES DE CATETERISMO CARDÍACO

  El cateterismo cardíaco permite diagnosticar con precisión la enfermedad de las arterias, las válvulas y las cavidades del corazón, así como las malformaciones que pudieran existir. En muchas ocasiones puede también aplicarse el tratamiento necesario. Este procedimiento se realiza para confirmar la sospecha de una enfermedad cardíaca de cualquier tipo, pues constituye la prueba de oro en Cardiología y sirve para determinar la extensión y la intensidad de la enfermedad.
  
  En este artículo intentamos resumir de forma didáctica las indicaciones diagnósticas y terapéuticas del cateterismo cardíaco.

  The cardiac catheterization makes possible the accurate diagnosis of diseases in the arteries, valves and heart cavities; as well as any malformation that may exist. In many occasions it is also possible to implement the necessary treatment. This procedure is carried out in order to confirm the presence of any kind of heart disease because it constitutes the golden test in Cardiology and is useful in determining the extension and intensity of the disease. This article tries to summarize in a didactic way the diagnostic and therapeutic indications of cardiac catheterization.
