    La neuropsicología en Colombia surge en los años 50, a partir de acontecimientos como: Consolidación de la neurología y de la psicología; en los años 70 se crea el Instituto Neurológico de Colombia; unos diez años después se lleva a cabo el Congreso Internacional de Neuropsicología en Bogotá, que fomentó el surgimiento de la Asociación Latinoamericana de Neuropsicología y la creación del primer departamento de Neuropsicología adscrito a una institución hospitalaria; aparecen por la misma época las primeras tesis de; hacia los años 70-80 se publican las obras de Luria; en los 80 aparecen en Medellín la Neuropsicología como cátedra, la creación de la Sociedad Neuropsicológica de Antioquia y el primer posgrado en el área; se inicia la creación de instituciones prestadoras de servicios de salud, con objetivos académicos y científicos; con el apoyo de COLCIENCIAS se incrementa la investigación y las publicaciones en neurociencias y neuropsicología.

    The neuropsychology in Colombia arises in years 50, from events like: Consolidation of neurology and psychology; in years 70 the Neurological Institute of Colombia is created; about ten years later the is carried out the International Congress of Neuropsychology in Bogota, that fomented the sprouting of the Latin American Association of Neuropsychology and the creation of the first department of Neuropsychology assigned to a health institution; they appear by the same time the first theses of; towards years 70-80 the works of Luria are published; in the 80 they appear in Medellin the Neuropsychology like chair, the creation of the Neuropsychologic Society of Antioquia and the first one posgrado in the area; the creation of lending institutions of services of health begins, with academic and scientific objectives; with the support of COLCIENCIAS it is increased the investigation and publications in neurociencias and neuropsychology.
