    En el actual contexto mundial, la socialdemocracia se encuentra ante un gran desafío y una oportunidad histórica. El desafío: asumir una profunda reflexión crítica sobre las causas de sus fracasos gubernamentales durante las últimas décadas. La oportunidad: ocupar un lugar crítico y propositivo frente a un liberalismo sin respuestas. Para el autor de este artículo, eso solo es posible si se recuperan las herramientas teóricas para construir una crítica seria al capitalismo actual y renovar el proyecto de socialismo democrático, en un contexto mundial en el que capitalismo y democracia parecen bifurcarse.

    In the current world context, social democracy finds itself facing a great challenge and an historic opportunity. The challenge: taking a deep, critical reflection about the causes of governmental failures during recent decades. The opportunity: occupying a critical and purposeful place in the face of liberalism without answers. For the author of this article, this is only possible if the theoretical tools are recuperated to construct a serious criticism of current capitalism and renew the project of democratic socialism in a global context in which capitalism and democracy seem to fork.
