The role of parliamentarian is ill-defined. There is no job description and no agreement between MPs and the electorate to help shape reasonable expectations. This article suggests that education and training providers need to pay greater attention to the lack of role clarity experienced by MPs, their unpreparedness for what is a unique occupation, and the increasing demands being placed on them through social and traditional media.
