La Universidad de Córdoba: notas para el estudio de sus constituciones

    La Compañía de Jesús se aboca a la predicación evangélica y dedica esfuerzos a la educación; esta doble tarea se observa en América desde el inicio de la colonización. En Córdoba fundan el Colegio Máximo para la formación de los futuros sacerdotes jesuitas.

    En 1621, el Papa Gregorio XV eleva al Colegio Máximo a la categoría de Universidad, ratificando la autorización del rey Felipe III de 1613. Así, puede inferirse que la Universidad Jesuítica de Córdoba no es una nueva institución, sino el Colegio Máximo con facultad real y pontificia para graduar académicamente.

    Ponderando que las Constituciones de la Universidad representan el sostén que regla y gobierna la vida de la casa de estudios, se analizan dos de ellas: las 91 Constituciones, elaboradas por el Padre Andrés de Rada y la Constitución Provisoria redactada en 1857, aprobada por el Gobierno Nacional de nuestro país al año siguiente.

    Society of Jesus devotes time and effort to evangelical preach and education; this double work has been seen by America since the very begining of the colonization. `Colegio Máximo´was founded in Córdoba in order to train future Jesuit priests. In 1621, the Pope Gregorio XV promotes the "Colegio Máximo" to the category of University, ratifying the autorization of king Felipe III in 1613. Therefore it can be infered that the `Universidad Jesuítica de Córdoba´is not a new institution, but the `Colegio Máximo´ with real and pontifical faculty to graduate academically. Considering that Constitutions of the University represent the bases that rules and governs the institution life, two of them are analized: the ninety-one constitutions, made by Father Andres Rada and the provisory Constitution written in 1857 and approved by the National Government of our country the next year.
