    El artículo es una aproximación a la Ratio Studiorum, documento pedagógico considerado el acta de nacimiento del sistema educativo jesuítico, dado a publicidad por el General de la Compañía el Padre Aquaviva el 8 de enero de 1599. Presenta el proceso seguido durante su elaboración, su contenido y su significado. Hace referencia a la vida y personalidad de Ignacio de Loyola, fundador de la Compañía de Jesús considerando que es allí donde se encuentran las fuentes de ese sistema educativo.

    Las prácticas pedagógicas orientadas desde la Ratio Studiorum marcaron la historia de la cultura y de la educación occidental en las universidades de Europa y América. La historia ha dado cuenta de los beneficios de esta educación recibida por hombres que se destacaron en las instituciones religiosas, sociales y políticas en las que participaron.

    The article is an approximation to the Radio Studiorum, the pedagogic document considered the foundation certificate of the Jesuit Education System, made public by the General of the Society, Father Claudio Aquaviva on January 8th, 1959. It presents the process followed during its elaboration, its content and significance. It refers to the life and personality of Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus, considering that the sources of this educational system are found there. The pedagogical practices oriented from the Ratio Studiorum marked the history of western culture and education of European and American Universities. History has given account of the benefits of this education received by men who were outstanding within the religious, social and political institutions in wich they participaded.
