La pandemia del error médico: acercamiento ético y preventivo

    Los autores, luego de haber analizado las dimensiones y los costos del error en campo sanitario, han detenido su atención sobre las estrategias adoptadas a nivel nacional e internacional para afrontar esta reconocida problemática, deseando la promoción de una cultura proactiva dirigida a la prevención del evento adverso; además del error médico en la óptica no sólo de reducir las controversias, sino también con la finalidad ética de perseguir el me-joramiento de la calidad de funcionamiento de las estructuras sanitarias y de las prestaciones médicas ofrecidas a los usuarios.

    No puede ser silenciado que los daños de tratamientos médicos efectivamente errados son una realidad de consistentes dimensiones y que los mismos podrían ser fuertemente limitados previa adopción de oportunas estrategias preventivas y correctivas.

    The Authors, after having analyzed the dimensions and the costs of the error in sanitary field, have dwell their attention upon the strategies adopted to national and international level to face such warned problem list, wishing the promotion of culture finalized to the prevention of the adverse side effects of the medical error in the viewpoint not only to reduce the contentious but also with the ethical finality to pursue the improvement of the quality of operation of the sanitary structures and the performances medical offers to the use.

    It cannot be denied that the damages from indeed wrong medical cares, are reality of strong dimensions and that the same could firmly be limited adopting the opportune preventive and corrective strategies.

    Besides, the culture of the punitive intervention encourages the sad phenomenon of the submerged error and the defensive medicine, without offering real solutions to the problem, with clear negative reflexes on the health of the consumer and on the boundaries of the physician-patient relationship.

    An ethical reading of the error claiming the role of the responsibility of the physicians as positive element for the progress of the knowledge should set off.

    The error, rehabilitated, becomes therefore a real wealth for the progress of the knowledge, on which is opportune to compare it to improve the routine care.
