Resumen Una mujer embarazada siempre es motivo de alegría, sobre todo cuando se acerca el momento del parto. Sin embargo, cuando el proceso del parto se complica pasa a ser un momento lleno de tristeza. En estas situaciones los profesionales sanitarios tienen dificultades a la hora de emprender actuaciones y tomar decisiones sobre la actitud qué deben tomar.
En este artículo, haciendo uso de la narrativa clínica, se describen las vivencias, experiencias, expectativas y afrontamiento situacional llevado a cabo por la madre de un niño con síndrome de Pena Shokeir. La narrativa clínica constituye un instrumento de incuestionable valor a la hora de reflexionar, analizar y establecer pautas y actuaciones frente a las distintas situaciones de enfermedad que el ser humano padece. Este relato es un ejemplo de superación personal, de una madre luchadora, y de un hijo superviviente.

Abstract (Hugo, the story of a fighter) A pregnant woman is always a joy, especially when approaching the time of delivery. However, when the birth process is complicated becomes a time filled with sadness. In these situations health professionals have difficulty in undertaking actions and make decisions about what attitude to take.
In this article, using the clinical narrative describes the experiences,expectations and situational coping market carried by the mother of a child with Pena Shokeir syndrome. The clinical narrative is a tool of unquestionable value to time to reflect, analyze and establish guidelines and actions to deal with different situations of disease that humans have. This story is an example of personal achievement, a struggling mother and a child survivor.
