Aim of this paper is to give a contribution to the analysis of the visibility gave to the Italian Humanities journals from leading bibliographic databases used for national research assessment. In particular, we will focus on the bibliographic databases Web of Science (Thomson Reuters) and Scopus (Elsevier). We believe it is important to develop a deep understanding of the issues related to assessment. We would like to deal with these issues, not yet adequately discussed by Italian scholars, through an essential statement of the main aspects of the problem. Therefore, we propose an examination of detailed lists of Italian Humanities journals included in the selected databases to help the identification of titles. Then is given a critical analysis of the data.
