Resumen de Fixació i estabilització de sistemes dunars a les Illes Balears per processos de forestació: El cas de Menorca

  It is a well documented issue that coastal dune systems of Spain have been systematically fixed and stabilised through afforestation initiatives developed both from public or private landowners mainly in the first half of the XX century. Most beaches of Minorca have a pine forest (Pinus halepensis Mill.) associated to their dune system.

  In order to verify their anthropogenic origin measurements of the trees in 18 localities have been taken. Results show a high uniformity in diameters ranges, thus supporting the presumption that this type of vegetation may be not natural from most of the dune systems of the island as have been indicated by previous authors. Moreover, seems to be a strong relationship between these altered dune systems and the presence of cultivated lands. These results may be of worth consideration in a long term management of these habitats.

  Es documenten mesures de diàmetres dels pins (Pinus halepensis Mill.) de 18 sistemes platja-duna de Menorca per constatar que aquestes ambients dinàmics han estat objecte d’actuacions de forestació per a la fixació de processos actius en els sectors de dunes semiestabilitzades i estabilitzades, generalment associats a camps de conreus. Els resultats obtinguts, i l’observació de formes dunars erosives internes actualment estabilitzades, ens demostren que aquests sistemes foren objecte d’actuacions antròpiques amb la finalitat de fixació de les formes. Així mateix els resultats demostren que els treballs realitzats en base a l’evolució històrica dels sistemes dunars, que fins ara partien d’un estat òptim de conservació, no tenien presents els processos de fixació previs a les possibles actuacions de forestació. Tot plegat permet establir algunes recomanacions per a una gestió a llarg termini d’aquests hàbitats.
