Velagalapalli Lokeswara Reddy, Arige Subramanyam, Pakanati Chenna Reddy

  • Steganography is the ability of hiding the truth that communication is taking place, by hiding data in other information. Numerous different carrier file formats can be used, but digital images are the most accepted because of their frequency on the Internet technologies. For hiding secret information in images, there exists a large variety of steganographic techniques, some are more complex than others and all of them have individual strong and weak points. Various applications have different requirements of the steganography technique used. For example, some applications may require absolute invisibility of the secret information, while others require a larger secret message to be unseen. This paper proposes to give an overview of image steganograpby, its uses and techniques. It also challenges to identify the requirements of a good steganography algorithm and briefiy replicates on which steganographic techniques are more appropriate for which applications.
