  • Thin films of chemical composition Se[subíndice 0.7]Te[subíndice0.3] (Se[subíndice 0.7]Te[subíndice0.3][subínidec0.95] In[subíndice 0.05] and (Se[subíndice 0.7]Te[subíndice0.3])[subíndice 0.92]In[subíndice 0.08] are prepared by thermal evaporation technique with thickness 150±25% nm at room temperature. The optical properties of these thin films are determined over the spectral range 300-900 nm. Parameters considered in this paper are refractive index n, extinction coefficient k, absorption coefficient α and optical energy gap E[subíndice g superíndice opt] X-ray diffraction revealed the nature of amorphous thin film, the optical transition was found to be allowed direct transition. The refractive index and extinction coefficient increase with increasing lndium content. As to the optical energy gap E[subíndice g superíndice opt], it has been found to decrease up to x=0.05 and thereafter it increases with increasing Indium content.
