Films of different thiekness (t) of PMMA have been made using casting method. The optical constants (refractive index n, extinction coefficient k, real and imaginary parts of dielectric constant ε[subíndice 1] and ε[subíndice 2] and the optical energy gap E[subíndice g] in the wavelength range 200-900 nm were determined using the absorbance and reflectance spectrum and then irradiated with Gamma and Beta rays. In the absence of radiation the data reveal that the increase of t increases n but decreases k. The exposition to beta and gamma rays increases n and k values indicating cross-linking domination of polymer chain. The optical energy gap behaves in the same manner ask with thickness variation and with exposure to radiation.
