Most of the contemporary writers having lived the deportation evoke accurately in their writings the atrocity of the world of concentration camps. Jorge Semprùn, Spanish writer of French expression, distinguishes himself by a creative imagination where the description exceeds the testimonial fact. In his novel, The Long Voyage, the author tells, using the first personal pronoun, the absolutely atrocious conditions of the journey leading to the camp of Buchenwald, but from the second chapter which constitutes a tiny part of the work, the tone changes and takes charge of a memorable dimension. The first person I is faded and replaced by the third person he. Why the author uses the third person instead of the first person?

Presque tous les écrivains contemporains ayant vécu la déportation évoquent dans leurs écrits, de manière fidèle, l�atrocité du monde des camps de concentration. Jorge Semprun, écrivain espagnol d�expression française, s�en distingue par un imaginaire créatif où la description dépasse le fait testimonial. Dans son roman Le Grand Voyage, l�auteur raconte, à la première personne, les conditions absolument atroces du voyage menant vers le camp de Buchenwald, mais à partir du deuxième chapitre qui ne constitue qu�une infime partie de l�oeuvre, le ton change et se charge d�une dimension plus mémorable. Le je se délite et ne tarde par à se travestir en il. Pourquoi l�auteur abandonne-il in fine la première personne, une parole vive, au profit de la troisième personne, une parole fictionnelle ?
