    Eleven Phoenician or Punic cities occupy islands near the shore. All these sites also benefit from one or more continental bases, which acted as an interface between the island settlement and the mainland hinterland. Here, we describe the spatial organization of this type of occupation by discussing its advantages, disadvantages and highlighting the function of this dual organization in overseas trade.

    Onze agglomérations phéniciennes ou puniques occupent des îlots à proximité du rivage, en Phénicie ou dans le cadre de l’expansion méditerranéenne. Tous ces sites bénéficient également d’un ou plusieurs vis‑à‑vis continental qui matérialisent le point de contact entre l’établissement insulaire et le terroir continental, qu’il soit sous domination phénicienne ou indigène. Cette note s’attache à décrire l’organisation spatiale de ce type d’occupation en soulignant ses avantages, ses inconvénients et en mettant en exergue la fonction de cette organisation bipartite dans le cadre du commerce d’outre‑mer.
