Low-cost flights in the Balearic Islands are one of the most recent and prominent pairing of air transport and tourism. They have led to qualitative and quantitative changes in all air travel and airline companies, due to increased mobility and accessibility of not only visitors but residents as well. However, the growth in aircraft movements has led us to analyze their impacts, including the emission of greenhouse gases. The paper highlights the most sustainable solutions and the new strategies for the industry that are emerging in order to counteract the effects generated by increased demand.
