  • Resumen
    • The theme of this paper is an examination of the inbetween-ness of semi-rural marginal areas through the concept of capital resources, and of mechanisms for the improved integration of such areas into wider tourism processes. This is set within an attempt to conceptualize semi-rural marginal areas for tourism and recreation. The South Ayrshire coastal region of South-West Scotland is employed as a case study area. The paper re-emphasizes the importance of well co-ordinated strategic collaboration and cooperation to better integrate marginal and poorly defined areas where the potential of existing tourism capital may be unrealized.
