    A partir del siglo XVIII se inicia en Europa la construcción de uno Nosotros (los fundamentos del que ya se habían asentado durante el Renacimiento y la Reforma) que tendría como tautología el concepto de Civílización. La Civilización será el que somos nosotros. A saber, una sociedad que prima el racionalismo en detrimento de lo instintivo, somático y mítico, una sociedad que pretende comprender los mecanismos de la naturaleza para dominarla mediante la tecnología y producir así bienes sin tregua; una sociedad que reafirma el individuo sobre el grupo; una sociedad que se organiza democráticamente y elimina la dimensión sagrada que, no solo el poder político, sino la totalidad de la vida había tenido en Europa hasta las revoluciones burguesas. Eso seremos Nosotros, y eso será la Civilización. Al Otro, obviamente, le tocará ser el revés del Nosotros. Un espejo invertido que nos recuerda con alegría nuestra superioridad, pero también nos advierte con horror el que fuéramos, o el que, y aquí reside el siniestro, continuamos siendo en el fondo oscuro de nuestra alma.

    From the eighteenth century in Europe began building a We (the foundations of which had already been settled during the Renaissance and the Reformation) that would tautology the concept of civilization. Civilization is that which is us. Namely, a society that favors the rationalism at the expense of the instinctive, somatic and mythic, a society that seeks to understand the mechanisms of nature to dominate through technology and thus produce goods without truce, a society that affirms the Individual over the group, a society that is organized democratically and eliminates the sacred dimension, not political power alone, but all life had been in Europe until the bourgeois revolutions. That will be us, and that will be Civlilzation.

    The Other, of course, we will play as the back of us. An inverted mirror that reminds us with joy our superiority, but also warns us that we were horror, or that, and here lies the sinister, we remain in the dark depths of our soul.
