Resumen de Reflexiones sobre la crisis de Haití: del individuo a la comunidad

El artículo que presentamos analiza y ofrece una serie de reflexiones sobre las fases tempranas de una crisis masiva (la primera semana) y las fases avanzadas (entre seis meses y un año). Muchas de las ideas se basan en la experiencia del autor en Haití, una crisis que, quizás, tiene como características el ser interminable y una administración incapaz de asumir un papel directivo en la rehabilitación del país. Se asume que en la fase temprana la intervención se dirige hacia las personas afectadas tomadas individualmente (el objetivo es salvar vidas), mientras que la fase avanzada la mejor forma de mejorar a los individuos pasa por intervenciones en la comunidad orientadas a restaurar sus funcionamientos básicos.

The paper offers a number of reflections about the first moments of a massive crisis �the first week, and the long term effects �between six month and a year. Most of the ideas stem from the author�s experience working in the Haiti, a crisis characterizes by being both endless and having a local administration unable of leadering the rehabilitation process of the country. It is assumed that the early phase of the intervention is intended to provide individual assistance to the victims� saving lives, and the long term intervention is more community oriented with the aim of restoring the basic functioning of the community which is assumed to be the best way of helping the individuals.
