Imperial cult is weakly represented in the area inhabited by Asturians dwelling beyond the mountains, this being a fact that shows the contrast with the inhabitants of the so-called Conventus Asturum, dwelling on the other side of the Cantabrian range of mountains.

The cult to the emperor did not have a strong development, Asturias being a scarcely urbanised territory. In this sense, the cult to Jupiter would have had in itself the religious and political significance attached to imperial cult. It would be wrong to assume that imperial cult served, as meant by Roman administration, as a political tool of propaganda with the aim of keeping inhabitants of imperial provinces united and loyal.
