Resumen de Difusión de la prensa diaria en España 1998-2008: papel vs digital

  Se analiza la difusión de los periódicos que cuentan con ediciones de pago en soporte papel y digitales de acceso gratuito. Con ello se pretende observar, en una primera aproximación, si existe interacción entre las difusiones de dichas ediciones y, de ser así, cómo se produce, cuáles son sus efectos y si éstos generan algún tipo de �canibalización�. Se estudian las cabeceras líderes en España en el mercado digital en los ámbitos de la información general (El mundo), deportiva (Marca) y económica (Expansión) y sus correspondientes versiones impresas. Al objeto de lograr la pertinente homogeneidad en los datos se adopta como fuente básica a la entidad de verificación Información y Control de Publicaciones, S. A. (Introl) a través de sus divisiones Oficina de Justificación de la Difusión (OJD) y OJD Interactiva. Dichos datos se someten a un tratamiento metodológico basado en la estadística descriptiva y mediante series mensuales entre junio de 1998 y diciembre de 2008.

  The circulation of newspapers that have both a �paper version� and a �free digital� version is analysed to determine whether there is a relationship between the two kinds of circulation. If there is an existing relationship we want to know how it works, what the overall effects are, and if these effects create some form of �cannibalization�. We studied the leading �free digital� publications in Spain for general information (El mundo), sports (Marca), and economics (Expansión). Sources for extracting data are Introl, OJD and OJD Interactiva. Data analysis was based on a descriptive statistics methodology and monthly series over 10 years, starting in June 1998, the first available date for electronic editions of these three newspapapers. The last month analysed is December 2008 because OJD Interactiva modified its measurement methods in January 2009 and this change could have affected the study results.
