Algunas precisiones sobre la violencia franquista

    La investigacion reciente sobre la violencia politica durante la Guerra Civil y el Franquismo parece haber llegado a una fase en la que es preciso analizar los conceptos aplicados a su estudio, tras una etapa primera de trabajos cuantitativos aun por concluir. Asi, entramos en el debate que nos ocupa: la discusion acerca de si es posible o no aplicar determinadas categorias -holocausto, genocidio, etc.- a la actividad represiva del Franquismo. Despues de haber consultado archivos municipales y provinciales, archivos militares, juzgados de paz, etc. el analisis de los datos no me lleva a concluir que puedan aplicarse dichos terminos. En esta propuesta intento exponer someramente por que es preciso mantenerse en los limites de la realidad que nos ofrecen los datos y evitar dar un paso que quizas solo este motivado, involuntariamente, por otras cuestiones que poco o nada tienen que ver con la Historia.

    The recent investigation about the political violence during the Civil War and the Franco regime seems to have reached a stage in which it is necessary to analyze the concepts applied to the research, after a still unfinished stage of quantitative studies. Thus, we begin the debate that concerns us: the discussion about whether it is possible to apply a certain terminology - i.e. holocaust, genocide, etc - to the repressive activity of the Franco regime. After consulting city and province archives, military archives, Justice of the Peace courts, etc, the analysis of the data does not make me conclude that said terms can be applied. In this proposal I try to expose briefly why it is necessary to stay just within the limits of reality that the data offers us, and to avoid doing something that may only be motivated, even if involuntarily, by matters that are little or not related to History.
