La escultura cristífera medieval en Huelva y su provincia.

    La representación escultórica durante el periodo medieval tiene en Huelva y su provincia algunos ejemplos paradigmáticos del nuevo lenguaje artístico que empieza a reinar en el arte europeo. En el caso onubense, la escultura cristífera cuenta con una serie de obras procedentes de Flandes, Gran Bretaña, Galicia o Sevilla que evidencian la importancia de este género artístico en esta capital andaluza. En el presente artículo se analizan los principales ejemplos que se ubican en esta provincia desde el punto de vista técnico, formal e iconográfico, ofreciendo una panorámica general de la escultura cristífera medieval presente en esta tierra.

    SUMMARY Sculptural representation during the medieval period has in Huelva and its province some paradigmatic examples of the new artistic language which begins to reign in the European art. In the case of Huelva, sculpture of Christ has a number of works from Flanders, United Kingdom, Galicia or Seville that are evidence of the importance of this artistic genre in this capital of Andalusia. In this article we analyze the principal examples which are located in this province from the point of view technical, formal and iconographic and offering an overview of the medieval sculpture of Christ present in this land.
