From 1955 to 1975 in Western Europe it is experienced a �Golden age of the capitalist system� with uneven development which favours a strong migration of workers from rural to urban areas, from the Mediterranean to Central Europe. Spain an Portugal are the countries which are at the top of that people movement. And Extremadura and Alentejo see how almost a 50% of its population leave the region. Industrialized areas of their countries and in France, Germany and Switzerland are the main destinations. A young workforce who sends savings, meaning a relief for the economy of the places of origin, however the regional development is still very low
