  • The article describes the experience of the author at the University of Barcelona (spain) during a week of Erasmus Staff Training, the exchange programme among European universities.

    The University of Barcelona (UB) is a large university and its library system is called CRAI (Centre of resources for learning and research). The "central units" decide on all the matters concerning their libraries like administration, collection managemente, projects of digital repositories and cataloguing.

    Visiting most of the 18 libraries of the university, it was possible to know their way of working, and how they organize the documentary heitage and provide services to patrons.

    The UB library system aims to keep a close link with the two main activity areas of the university: teaching and research.
