    The ENA curriculum is both under the pressure and at the service of the system of ranking for outgoing students and it focuses on a concrete training to the various administrative jobs. It tries to put the students in real administrative contexts by alternating internships in local administration or abroad with periods of theoretical training. It suffers from the high expectations that come from its mission to train groups of students coming from very different schools and personal backgrounds. But it has been able to adapt to the changing demand from the users of its « products », namely the civil service agencies that are represented on the School Board.

    Placée à la fois sous la pression et au service du classement de sortie, la scolarité de l’ENA est tournée vers les conditions pratiques d’exercice des métiers de l’administration : alliant stages en préfecture et à l’étranger et périodes d’études, elle s’efforce de mettre les élèves « en situation ». Elle pâtit des attentes intenses qui pèsent sur elle pour former des promotions réunissant des élèves aux origines d’études et d’expériences diverses. Mais elle a su évoluer, compte tenu des demandes des utilisateurs de ses « produits », c’est-à-dire les administrations qui siègent en son conseil d’administration.
