In 1708, the famous Italian architect and scenographer, Ferdinando Galli Bibiena was called to the Court of Barcelona by the Archduke of Austria, who had recently been crowned King of Spain, under the Value Charles III. He was to oversee a great number of theatrical events and other festivities planned for Charles� wedding to Elizabeth Christine of Braunschweig-Wolfenbuettel. He would remain there until the end.
