  • Resumen
    • Four years after the Zapatista uprising, this group of articles examines the gains and losses which have emerged out of that political opening. Focused on three arenas: 1) the indigenous autonomy movement in Chiapas, Oaxaca and nationally, 2) movements for indigenous women's rights and 3) retrenchment, factional divisions and infighting in communities, these articles underscore how the larger political and economic context both helped and hindered the political opening and initiatives boosted by the Zapatista rebellion
