¿Qué se necesita saber y saber hacer para enseñar ciencias sociales?: la didáctica de las ciencias sociales y la formación de maestros y maestras

    En este artículo se plantean algunas de las ideas necesarias para que el profesorado de educación primaria y secundaria pueda enseñar unas ciencias sociales para comprender, pensar y actuar en un mundo tan complejo y en cambio como el que nos está tocando vivir. La reflexión sobre la naturaleza de los saberes que necesita dominar un maestro para enseñar ha crecido mucho desde la aparición y consolidación de las didácticas específicas en la formación de maestros. Las didácticas específicas han construido conocimientos sobre las especificidades de las distintas disciplinas escolares, han investigado sobres sus problemas de enseñanza y aprendizaje y han creado un corpus teórico y metodológico fundamental para elaborar planes y estrategias para intervenir en las aulas y para que la formación de su profesorado se base en conocimientos surgidos de la práctica de enseñar. En el artículo se reflexiona en torno a las siguientes preguntas: • ¿De dónde partimos para pensar e iniciar la formación de maestros de Ciencias Sociales? • ¿Qué competencias han de dominar los maestros para enseñar ciencias sociales? • ¿Qué han de hacer y de saber hacer los maestros como prácticos reflexivos? • ¿Qué contenidos pueden facilitar la comprensión de lo que está sucediendo en el mundo hoy?

    In this article we describe some of the basic ideas to allow primary and secondary teachers to teach social studies in order to achieve that our students could understand, think and act in the currently and changing world. Since the consolidation of the specific didactics in the teachers’ education, the reflection about the nature of the thinking that the teachers need to know has growing up. The specific didactics have built knowing about the specificities of the educational areas, have investigated about the teaching and learning problems and have created a theoretical and methodological corpus that allow us to elaborate plans and strategies to intervene in the class and to educate teachers according to this knowledge. This article is organized according to the next questions: • Which is the starting point to think about the social studies teachers’ education? • Which are the skills that a teacher needs to have to teach social studies? • Which are the knowledge and the actions that a teachers need to do to be reflective practitioners? • Which contents can facilitate the understanding of what is happening in our days?
