Trabajar por el bien común, camino para la convivencia

    Se trata de configurar el papel del hombre en la sociedad y el de la propia sociedad como comunidad de hombres y mujeres llamados a convivir, a relacionarse y, de esa relacionalidad, a engrandecerse como personas y enriquecer a la sociedad para alcanzar sus propios fines con mayores garantías. Para ello se requiere, prima facie, la fijación del objetivo al que tiende naturalmente la propia comunidad; un objetivo que no puede ser otro que el bien y, más específicamente, el bien común; un bien que lo es para la comunidad en su conjunto y para cada uno de los miembros de ésta. Un bien que, para que reúna tales características, tiene que situarse en lo que es esencial en la persona humana y, como esencial, común a todas las personas y propio de cada persona.

    Ese bien, en términos del lenguaje más actualizado, no puede ser otro que el de desarrollo humano -terminología asumida y consagrada ya por Naciones Unidas- o, con mayor precisión aún, el de desarrollo humano integral, recogido en los textos pontificios de la doctrina social de la Iglesia. El primero viene determinado por variables económicas como la renta o el producto interior bruto por habitante, junto a variables de carácter esencial para la vida del ser humano, como la esperanza de vida o el nivel y esperanza de instrucción, cuyo valor está sometido a los medios que se dispone para ello. El segundo, el desarrollo humano integral, añade a lo anterior los valores espirituales y religiosos que corresponden al hombre por su dignidad y que despiertan en él la fraternidad y la solidaridad, conformando una sociedad más armónica, más fraterna, más justa y más solidaria.

    El protagonista de todo ello es, como no podría ser de otro modo, el hombre, la persona humana. El hombre como artífice y parte esencial de la comunidad, el hombre capaz de convivir y capaz de participar en esa tarea de alcanzar el objetivo común que, por su grandeza, no puede ser confundida ni quedar sometida a los medios que puedan utilizarse en cada momento para esa unión de esfuerzos y esa comunidad de intereses. Es de esa común construcción de la que surge el consenso para caminar juntos, teniendo siempre presente el fin perseguido y el bien deseado para la comunidad en su conjunto, y para cada uno de sus componentes en su singularidad y en la unicidad de su dimensión material y espiritual.

    The paper deals with the man's role in the society and that of the society itself like men's community called to live in common, to be relational and, of that relationality, to be grater as people and to enrich the society in order to fulfil their own goals with more guarantees. For it is required, prima facie, the establishment of the objective looking to the one that spreads naturally from the community as such; an objective that cannot be another that the good and, more specifically, the very common good; a good that is for the community in its collective dimension and belongs also to each one of the members of it. A good that, so that it gathers such characteristics, has to be located in what is essential in the human person and, because it is essential, it is also common to all the mankind and characteristic of each person.

    That good, in terms of the most up-to-date language, it cannot be another than that of human development -assumed and consecrated terminology by the United Nations- or, still more precisely, that of integral human development, picked up in the pontifical texts of the social doctrine of the Church. The first come determined by economic variables as the rent or gross domestic product per capita, as well as variables of essential character for the human being's life, like life expectancy, or level and instruction expectancy, whose value is subjected to the available means for it. The second, the integral human development, adds to the above-mentioned components the spiritual and religious values that correspond the man according with its dignity and that wake up in him the fraternity and the solidarity, conforming a more harmonic, more fraternal, more just and more solidary society.

    The main protagonist of all what we are saying, as it could not be otherwise, is just the man, the human person. The man like author and essential part of the community, the man able to live in common and able to participate in the task of achieving the common goal that, because of his greatness, it cannot be confused neither to be subjected to the means that can be used in each moment for that joint efforts and that common interests. It is of that common construction of which the consent arises to walk together, always having in mind the pursued end and the very wanted good for the community in its collective dimension, as well as for each one of its members in its singularity and in the uniqueness of its material and spiritual dimension.
